Anthony Payne's String Quartet No. 2 has won the Chamber category in this year's British Composer Awards. Payne's prizewinning composition was commissioned and premiered by the Allegri Quartet in 2010, thanks to the generous support of the RVW Trust and the Britten-Pears Foundation.

BBC Radio 3 has invited the Allegri Quartet to record Anthony Payne's String Quartet No. 2 for a special programme celebrating the composer's 75th birthday. This new commission by the Allegri Quartet received its world premiere in London last December.
